A Rastafarian man who denied being found with $15,000 worth of marijuana seven years ago was yesterday granted bail ahead of his trial.

Orman Newbold was arrested after he was accused of having 15 pounds of Indian hemp in January 2014.

He denied dangerous drug possession with the intent to supply when he appeared before Senior Magistrate Derence Rolle Davis.

Yesterday, Newbold told the magistrate his case had been ongoing for the past seven years. He claimed the matter was eventually discontinued; however, the charges were recently brought back unexpectedly.

In response, Magistrate Rolle Davis reminded the accused that the Crown had a right to bring back charges in certain situations. He subsequently adjourned the matter to December 15 for trial.

Newbold was granted $6,500 bail until that time.
