A MAN accused of committing murder will also stand trial for allegedly assaulting a police officer.

On Monday, Doobensky Antoine, 25, appeared before Senior Magistrate Carolyn Vogt Evans charged with the death of Maurice Fox, Jr, on September 26.

He was later brought back before Magistrate Vogt Evans to answer to the charges of obscene language, disorderly behaviour and assault.

Prosecutors alleged that Antoine used profanity to the annoyance of a police constable at the Wulff Road station on October 3.

They further alleged that he behaved in a disorderly manner and assaulted the same officer at the station that day.

Yesterday, Antoine denied the allegations.

Before he was remanded back into custody, his attorney, Ian Cargill, told the magistrate that his client was beaten by police officers at the station.

Antoine returns to court in 2022 to be served with his voluntary bill of indictment and to stand trial for the alleged offences.
