A MAN caught with more than $200 worth of marijuana must pay $800 to avoid spending three months on remand.

Police arrested Corey Davis after they found 3.34 ounces of Indian hemp in his residence on October 5.

He pleaded guilty to dangerous drug possession with the intent to supply when he appeared before Senior Magistrate Derence Rolle Davis.

The prosecution said around 1.45pm on the day in question, officers acting on information proceeded to Davis’ Cool Acres residence armed with a warrant. After informing him of their search, they began their investigation and discovered two plastic bags with 39 silver foil wraps containing a quantity of marijuana. Davis was subsequently arrested. During an interview with police, he said he bought the drugs for his personal use.

Yesterday, Davis maintained his initial explanation and added that he bought the drugs to smoke to help “ease himself down”. As a result, he was convicted and fined $800 or three months in prison.
