TWO men found with a gram of cocaine were discharged on the agreement that they would stay out of trouble in the future.

Police arrested Cairvins Telford, 55, and Henry Noel, 43, after they found $10 worth of cocaine on them on October 3.

The prosecution said around 5.25pm that day, officers on mobile patrol near Emmanuel Drive noticed a vehicle that was travelling south causing obstruction. After they stopped the car, they informed its two occupants that they would be searched in reference to dangerous drugs and firearms. During their investigation, officers found a foil wrap with a powdery substance they suspected to be cocaine. The court was told that when Noel lifted his tennis shoe, officers also found a clear plastic containing another small quantity of cocaine.

After Telford and Noel pleaded guilty to simple possession, Senior Magistrate Derence Rolle Davis told them he did not expect the men to be before the court at their ages. He also said he found it surprising that they were still “playing children games” at this stage in their lives.

After considering their pleas of remorse, Magistrate Rolle Davis said he would let Telford and Noel go with a warning and urged them to be of good behaviour and exercise better judgment in the future.
