AFTER a two-year hiatus, the Men’s Department of the Bahamas Baptist Missionary and Educational Convention will be back with its annual Family Fun Walk Race.

Smacked in the middle of the Baptist Month celebrations, the events are scheduled for Saturday, October 23, starting at 6:30 am from the Baptist Convention headquarters’ parking lot on Jean Street.

Under the theme: “Back On The Road Again,” the event will travel south on Jean Street to Prince Charles Drive.

The route then turns left on Prince Charles Drive and heads east all the way to the red light on Fox Hill Road.

Participants will then turn around and head west on Prince Charles Drive back to Jean Street. On Jean Street, the route will continue north to the finish line at the Baptist Convention office parking lot.

Rev Stephen Ferguson, the director of the Men’s Department, urges the public to come out and participate in the event.

“My fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, I greet you in the name of Jesus,” he said. “Due to the global pandemic, we were faced with challenges, some great and some small, but through it all, we made it by God’s grace.

“The Baptist Men’s Department is back on the road again with our annual Walk-A-Thon.

“We encourage you to come out and support us during this time,” he added.

Categories will include men and women under-15, under-20, under-30, under-40, under-50, 50-and-over and 70-and-over. There will also be a category for pastors and ministers. Awards will be presented to the first three finishers in each category. There will also be an award for the church with the most participants to complete the course. All COVID-19 protocols will be in full effect for the event that is open to the general public. The registration fee is $10 per person, which also includes a free commemorative t-shirt. Pre registration for the race will begin at 6am on race day.
