IN their first match in almost two years, the University of the Bahamas Mingoes men’s soccer lost to Johnson University 3-0 to open its 2021/2022 soccer season.

Johnson University, playing in its ninth game of the season, proved to be too much for the young Mingoes squad. The Mingoes put up quite a fight; however, travelling with a team made up mostly of freshmen and sophomores who were engaged in their first intercollegiate match.

Despite travelling with only 12 players, the Mingoes hung tough.

UB assistant coach Harvey Mullings said he was proud of the effort; however, indicated that he’s looking for the team to clean up on some technical and strategic errors as the team gets ready for its second game.

• The University of the Bahamas Mingoes men’s soccer dropped the second game of it’s two-game swing at Johnson University in Orlando, Florida on Saturday losing 2-0.

Coach Harvey Mullings said Saturday’s game was a much better match for the Mingoes as he saw improvements from Friday’s match. He says the team will now get back to work on some weaknesses and get ready for its second international trip October 27-30.
