Cuban migrants held by RBDF

THE Royal Bahamas Defence Force apprehended a group of Cuban migrants in Bahamian waters Tuesday afternoon.

During a routine patrol, HMBS Rolly Gray, under the command of Lieutenant Themo Berkley, intercepted a 21-ft sports fishing vessel approximately 14 miles east of Cay Santo Domingo shortly after 2pm.

Onboard were a group of Cuban nationals, who were subsequently removed and taken aboard the RBDF craft.

The RBDF said the migrants will be brought to Nassau and handed over to the relevant authorities. The Cuban embassy has since been notified.
