A 39-year-old man who admitted going on another’s man property without permission was on Friday put on a month’s probation.

Jason Deleveaux was arrested after he trespassed on Mervin Jones’ property on September 22.

He admitted the offence during his hearing before Magistrate Kara Turnquest Deveaux.

The prosecution said that around 8am on the day in question, Mr Jones, who is the owner of several apartments in the Blue Hill Road South area, met Deleveaux on his property. He told police it was not the accused’s first time coming on his premises despite not being given permission to be there. After he filed his complaint, Deleveaux was arrested. When he was questioned in police custody, he admitted the offence.

On Friday, Deleveaux told the magistrate he had been diagnosed with schizophrenia and asked if it would be possible for him to be remanded to the Sandilands Rehabilitation Centre as he was a previous patient of the facility.

However, Magistrate Turnquest Deveaux told him the SRC was not accepting any patients at this time. As a result, she accepted his guilty plea and placed him on probation for one month. She warned Deleveaux that if he failed to stay out of trouble within that time frame, he could risk spending a month behind bars.
