Two accused of attacks on women

By PAVEL BAILEY

TWO men were arraigned in Magistrate’s Court yesterday on separate charges of assaulting women.

Jacobee Black, 22, stood before Magistrate Kara Turnquest-Deveaux on two counts of assault.

One of the alleged assaults took place on Friday, January 21, in New Providence while the other allegedly took place on Tuesday, April 5.

In court Black pleaded not guilty to the assault charge in connection with the January incident. However, Black had the charge against him for the second assault withdrawn.

He was granted $1,000 bail with one or two sureties. Black’s case was adjourned to May 26.

Another man, Robin Smith, 22, of Palm Tree Avenue, also appeared before Magistrate Turnquest-Deveaux charged with assault.

On Friday, January 28, Smith allegedly assaulted a woman at his residence.

However, in court he was cautioned by the magistrate and discharged.
