A MAN was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services yesterday in connection with the shooting death of a teenager in late July.

Woodcarl Pasteur, 19, stood before Assistant Chief Magistrate Subusola Swain accused of the murder of 18-year-old Keithon Johnson.

According to a police report at around 12.25am on July 21, Pasteur went to Johnson’s residence on Peter’s Street dressed in black.

This included a ski-mask, jacket and tennis shoes as well as a pair of jeans.

Once Pasteur approached Johnson, he is alleged to have used a firearm to fire several shots at him.

Johnson later died of his gunshot wounds after being taken to hospital by Emergency Medical Services.

Due to the gravity of the offence, Pasteur was not required to enter a plea in court.

The accused was also informed that his case would proceed by way of a Voluntary Bill of Indictment.

Although the accused was denied bail, he can apply for it in the Supreme Court, where his trial will eventually be held.

Until Pasteur is granted bail, he will be returned to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.

Pasteur’s Voluntary Bill of Indictment is expected to be served in court on November 8.
