A FATHER and son from Inagua were granted $7,000 bail in Magistrate’s Court yesterday on firearm and ammunition charges.

Dura Lightbourne, Sr, and Junior, both of Matthew Town, stood before Magistrate Shaka Serville on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of ammunition.

On August 25 in Matthew Town, Inagua, the two fishermen were allegedly found by police with a black and silver Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol with the serial number erased. At the time of their arrest, they were also found with 15 unfired rounds of 9mm ammunition.

In court, the accused pleaded not guilty to both charges against them.

They are represented by attorney Mario Gray.

Magistrate Serville granted the pair bail at $7,000 each with one or two sureties. Under the conditions of their bail, the father and son are expected to sign in at Matthew Town Police Station every Monday and Saturday by 7pm.

Their trial is to begin on November 14.
