A 26-year-old man was charged with attempted murder in Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Daquan Lundy appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt accused of trying to kill Eduardo Deveaux on November 10.

Lundy was not required to enter a plea to the charge due to the nature of the offence and the matter was adjourned to July 24 for a service of a voluntary bill of indictment.

Bail was also denied and he was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until he is successful in securing bail from the Supreme Court.

In a separate matter, a 33-year-old man who denied gun-related charges was remanded to jail pending his bail hearing.

Stephen Bain appeared before Chief Magistrate Pratt-Ferguson, charged with one count of possession of a firearm with intent to supply and two counts of possession of ammunition with intent to supply.

Police alleged that they found two unlicensed firearms, namely a black 40mm Glock pistol and a black Taurus, on Bain on February 4.

He is further accused of being in possession of 31 live rounds of 9mm ammunition and another 25 live rounds of another type of ammunition.

Bain denied all the allegations.

The Crown prosecutor asked for bail to be deferred so she could determine whether the accused had any antecedents.

In response, Bain’s attorney, Ian Cargill told the court that as far as he was aware, his client had no previous convictions.

It was also revealed that Bain suffers from seizures and has to take medication on a regular basis.

Having taken these matters into consideration, Magistrate Ferguson-Pratt said she would remand Bain to one of the local police stations as opposed to sending him to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.

A bail hearing was also deferred to today.

Bain is represented by Keevon Maynard.

In a separate matter, Brinton Bain Jr, 24, and Kenton McBride also appeared in court on similar firearm offences.

The two were arrested after police said they found them with a black Taurus 9mm pistol and seven rounds of ammunition on February 4.

However, the two denied the offences and the matter was adjourned to April 12 for trial.

The two men will return to court on February 11 for a bail hearing.
