A MAN and a woman accused of importing several firearms, including a prohibited weapon, into the country were remanded to prison pending their bail hearing.

Keith Higgs, 25, and Abigail Nelson, 21, a Jamaican, were arrested after police allegedly found them with eight unlicensed firearms, including a black Austria Glock and black JMT rifle — the latter of which is a prohibited weapon — on February 7.

Police said the two were also found with dozens of unfired rounds of ammunition the same day.

The defendants are also accused of conspiring to import and importing the firearms and ammunition into the Bahamas this month.

However, they denied the allegations during their hearing before Magistrate Samuel McKinney yesterday.

After accepting the accused’s not guilty pleas, Magistrate McKinney remanded them into custody until February 21 for a bail hearing.

Both are represented by attorney Wendawn Miller-Frazer.
