National basketball team standouts face off in France’s NM1 League

A PAIR of Bahamian national basketball team standouts faced off In France’s NM1 League.

Kino Burrows and his St Thomas Basket Le Havre defeated Willis Mackey and Mulhouse Basket Agglomeration 85-62 in a pivotal matchup for the Group B Standings.

Burrows finished with 13 points and six rebounds while Mackey scored just two in limited minutes.

Le Harve improved to 18-7, second in Group B, while Mulhouse is tied for third in the group with LYon CTC at 17-8. Le Harve concludes the season February 18 in a matchup against GET Vosges. Mulhouse will face Caen on February 18.

After a slow 2-4 start to the season, Le Harve won 10 of their next 11 games to get back into the playoff race. On the season, his first with the club, Burrows is averaging a team high 13.4. points and 4.3 rebounds per game on 64 percent shooting from the field.

Last season, Burrows completed his second stint with the FOS Provence- Basket Byers of the LNB Pro B League. In 11 games, he averaged 6.1 points and 3.5 rebounds per game en route to the Byers claiming the league championship and receiving a promotion to JEEP Elite Pro A for the second time in club history.

In 22 games, Mackey, the third year 6’7” forward is averaging 11.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per game on 64 percent shooting from the field and 37 percent from three-point range.

Mackey spent last season with JSA Bordeaux Métropole Basket as the team struggled to a 7-19 record, 13th place in Group A. In 16 games he averaged 13.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.1 steals per game.
