A POLICE officer yesterday claimed he was kicked in the groin by a woman he attempted to arrest.

Corporal Deangelo Rolle gave the account while testifying against Miralda Adolphe during her trial before Magistrate Kendra Kelly.

The 34-year-old is accused of behaving in a disorderly manner, assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest on May 31, 2020.

Rolle testified that he was on mobile patrol when he received information about a disturbance in the Wulff Road area.

The officer said upon arrival in the area, he spoke to the accused’s landlord who gave him information about her tenant, Adolphe’s husband.

He said sometime later, the accused came outside the home and began shouting and shoving her hands at officers.

The witness said while he could not understand everything Adolphe was saying due to language difficulties, he said he heard the accused say “y’all don’t mess with me” and “she is lying”.

The police officer said she was warned about her behaviour several times, but continued to act in a disorderly manner which led to her arrest.

Corporal Rolle said while he tried to arrest the accused, she pushed him away from her.

He also claimed the accused later kicked him in the groin after she was put in the police vehicle.

Police Constable Alex Rolle also gave testimony yesterday. Constable Rolle testified about his role in interviewing the accused after her arrest.

The police officer told the court the accused admitted to being loud during her interview with police. However, the police said she denied the assault allegations.

As a result of the prosecutor’s request, Constable Rolle identified the written record of interview in court, which was later entered in as evidence in the case.

However, during cross-examination, Adolphe’s attorney, Alfred Grey asked the officer if he had informed the accused of her right to get a lawyer.

Rolle said he had.

However, Grey suggested that Rolle was not being truthful in his claims.

The case continues on March 22.
