A 26-YEAR-OLD Freeport woman accused of setting fire to a business establishment pleaded guilty to arson in the Supreme Court in Grand Bahama early this week.

Jerzeel Marlone, 26, of No 82 Carissa Street, appeared before Justice Andrew Forbes on the charge of arson of a building. The accused pleaded guilty to the charge and the matter was adjourned to May 31 for sentencing. The judge ordered that Marlone undergo psychological evaluation before sentence is passed.

The incident occurred on February 27, 2019, when the fire department was called to a blaze at the Rachel’s Britannia Mini Mall in Caravel Beach. The fire caused significant damage to the building, which was valued at some $800,000.
