DIANGELO Woodside and his Cape Breton Capers concluded the home portion of their Atlantic University Sport regular season and extended their win streak to five games.

Woodside had a perfect shooting day from the field and finished with eight points in the Capers’ 90-85 win over the Memorial Seahawks last night at Sullivan Fieldhouse in Sydney, Nova Scotia.

The win concluded the weekend series sweep over the Seahawks after Saturday night’s 90-82 win. In game one, Woodside finished with 13 points and eight rebounds to earn Subway Player of the Game honours.

After an 0-4 start to the season, the five-game win streak pulled the Capers from the basement of the AUS standings to above .500 at 7-6.

The Capers have three games remaining in the regular season - on the road against the UNB Red Bombers before a back-to-back against league leaders Shamar Burrows and the Dalhousie Tigers.

Woodside’s 13-point night was his first double-digit scoring effort since October 24 in a loss to UNB. He opened the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds in a win over UPEI, 15 points in a loss to Dalhousie, and 10 points and eight rebounds against UNB.

In his first year with the programme, after stints with the Holland College Hurricanes and Mount Allison Mounties, Woodside is averaging 6.2 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.
