A MAN was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services yesterday by a Magistrate’s Court in relation to an allegation of kidnapping another man.

Shon Butler, 22, represented by attorney Ian Cargill, appeared before Magistrate Shaka Serville for the alleged kidnapping of a man only identified in court as “Kenton” on June 27 in New Providence.

While Mr Cargill questioned the peculiarity of the kidnapping victim’s full name being withheld, Butler was informed that his case would proceed by way of Voluntary Bill of Indictment.

The accused was then informed that although he was denied bail by the Magistrate’s Court, he could apply for it before the Supreme Court, where his trial will be held.

Until bail is granted, Butler will be remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional services.

Butler will return to court for service of his Voluntary Bill of Indictment on October 5.
