TWO men were yesterday arraigned on separate charges of indecent exposure.

Phillip Jones, 34, stood before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt on charges of vagrancy and three counts of indecent exposure.

After reportedly being found in the area of Cowpen Road on July 2 without being able to give a satisfactory account of himself, Jones exposed himself to three people. At the same place the accused is said to have exposed himself to Shacoya Minnis, Corporal 1067 Bodie and WPC 4104 Smith.

While Jones initially pleaded not guilty to all charges against him, the Chief Magistrate called into question the accused’s competency due to the difficulty he had responding to questions in court.

As aa result, Jones will be charged again on July 13 for the court to review his mental health history.

The other man, Clement Hepburn, 52, of 69 Finlayson Street, appeared before Magistrate Kendra Kelly on a single charge of indecent exposure before his sister Patricia Newbold at their shared residence on Finlayson Street.

Hepburn pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecution objected to bail on the basis that the complainant and accused share the same home.

As such, the magistrate moved to fast track Hepburn’s trial so that he does not spend too long in custody.

Before being sent back to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services the accused was told that his trial would start on July 8.
