A MAN was granted $5,000 bail yesterday in relation to an alleged assault of a man and woman with a car and then threatening to harm that same woman at a later date.

Doug Gardiner, 32, represented by Attorney Ian Cargill stood before Assistant Chief Magistrate Subusola Swain on two counts of assault with a dangerous instrument. Gardiner also faced an additional charge of threats of harm.

On July 3 in New Providence, the defendant reportedly assaulted Michael Strachan and Latesha Neymour with a vehicle.

Then later on July 16, Gardiner is alleged to have threatened Ms Neymour.

In court, the accused pleaded not guilty to all three charges.

With there being no objection, bail was granted to Gardiner in the sum of $5,000 with one surety.

The defendant’s trial is set to begin on September 22.
