A MAN was arraigned in Magistrate’s Court yesterday for trying to deceive a public officer.
Antwan Sands, 50, appeared before Magistrate Samuel McKinney on a charge of deceit of a public officer.
On April 12 in New Providence, Sands is accused of trying to deceive chief clerk Nancy Saunders while she was executing her duties.
The defendant pleaded not guilty. When asked by prosecutor Inspector Timothy Bain if he has any other pending court matters, Sands indicated he had another trial set for September.
The bail hearing was deferred until today for prosecution to properly review Sands’ police record.
His trial in this matter is slated for August 10.
