A MAN was granted $4,000 bail in Magistrate’s Court yesterday on charges of stealing and receiving almost $2k worth of copper wires from a woman’s house.

Tyvaughn Culmer, 41, of Bamboo Crest, appeared before Assistant Chief Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans on charges of stealing and receiving.

On May 25, he is alleged to have taken $1,911.94 worth of copper wires from Patricia Sweeting’s residence.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.

After his plea, Culmer told the magistrate he is a law-abiding citizen and had been given permission to remove wires from the building which is undergoing renovations.

Culmer alleged that it was his neighbours who were conspiring against him.

Magistrate Vogt-Evans granted the accused $4,000 bail with one or two sureties.

Under the conditions of his bail, Culmer is to be fitted with an ankle monitor and is expected to sign in at South Beach Police Station every Sunday by 7pm.

Culmer’s trial will start on September 14.
