Why not celebrate the Queen?

EDITOR, The Tribune.

Today, Her Majesty our Queen - Queen of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas became Queen of the Realm and the Colonies. Could not be a stranger story... not planned as certainly the abdication of her Uncle was far from expected which plunged her father George VI to be King and she, Elizabeth the oldest a potential Queen probably after a long reign of her father.

She and the late HRH Duke of Edinburgh left England on a visit to Kenya and sadly a total shock her father died... left as a Princess returning as the Queen of the UK and its Colonies.

Might be planned but today would have been the correct date for a Commonwealth of The Bahamas celebration - nothing.

Editor, it concerns me that recently we pulled all stops out spent $650,000.00 plus on the visit of HRH Duke of Cambridge and the Duchess and now for the Head of our country we do nothing.

Hoping we did what we did for the HRH not because as we saw measure of potential publicity but because HRH Duke of Cambridge in time will also be thrown into the position of Sovereign.

Even if we hate the monarchy this is an incredible achievement for any public figure – lived through 17 UK Prime Ministers - crisis – wars socially and globally and it was steady as she goes in true Rule Britannia fashion.

God bless Her Majesty may she continue to enjoy good health even at her mature age - respectfully I bow to her she is The Queen of the Bahamas!

Mr Prime Minister - no celebration?
