A MAN was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services by a Magistrate’s Court yesterday on a charge of attempted murder.

Godfrey Minnis, 35, represented by Attorney Kelsey Munroe, faced Assistant Chief Magistrate Subusola Swain accused of having tried on March 18 to kill Philip Moxey.

Due to the nature of the charge, Minnis was not required to enter a plea in court. The magistrate also told him that his case would proceed by way of Voluntary Bill of Indictment (VBI).

The accused was further informed that his case would be heard before the Supreme Court, where he can also apply for bail.

Until bail is granted, Minnis will be returned to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.

The accused is expected to return to court for service of his VBI on August 25.
