A MAN was arrested in Magistrate’s Court yesterday after he cursed a senior magistrate and punched a police officer in an unprovoked attack.

The incident happened in court six, which is presided over by Senior Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans.

The Tribune was told the man came to court to hear evidence in his trial for causing harm and resisting arrest. However, after witnesses never showed up, the magistrate adjourned the case which was said to have angered the accused.

Sources say the man started to act in a disorderly manner, and even cursed Magistrate Vogt-Evans, accusing the court of wasting his time.

It was reported that he began attacking one of the police officers as he tried to leave the courtroom and even punched him in the face, causing injuries.

The incident resulted in the intervention of several other officers and bystanders, who ultimately restrained him. The accused is expected to be charged with this incident.
