Teenage boy accused of attacking cop

A 16-YEAR-OLD boy appeared in court yesterday on charges of assaulting a police officer.

The teen and his mother appeared before Magistrate Kara Turnquest-Deveaux where the boy faced charges of assaulting the officer, resisting arrest and causing damage.

The juvenile is accused of unlawfully assaulting Inspector Rico Brown on March 11 at R M Bailey Park, resisting arrest and causing damage to the officer’s khaki pants. The boy is accused of causing $80 worth of damage to Inspector Brown’s property.

In court, the teen pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

Magistrate Turnquest- Deveaux set the defendant’s bail at $2,000 with one suretor.

The case was adjourned to May 4.
