Accused of attack on love rival with cutlass

By PAVEL BAILEY

A MAN was arraigned yesterday for allegedly attacking the father of his girlfriend’s child with a cutlass last week.

Ranaldo Neymour, 27, of Rosedale Street, appeared before Acting Assistant Chief Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans accused of attacking Nathan Moreau in New Providence on Wednesday, March 9.

On that day, Neymour was accused of attacking Moreau with a cutlass, hitting him twice on his wrist and once on his left arm. Neymour was later arrested for this and charged with assault with a dangerous instrument and causing harm.

In court Neymour pleaded not guilty to both charges against him.

When asked if he agreed with the facts stated in his case by the magistrate he said he did not. Neymour said that he did not attack the complainant with a cutlass.

The accused explained that he actually hit Moreau with a bat. He explained that he did so in self defence.

As the accused had no criminal record, Magistrate Vogt-Evans set his bail at $5,000 with two sureties.

The magistrate also instructed Neymour to sign in at South Beach Police Station on the last Sunday of every month until his trial and warned him not to have contact with the complainant or any witnesses in the matter.

Neymour’s trial was adjourned to May 23.
