Man accused of causing harm

By PAVEL BAILEY

A MAN was arraigned yesterday accused of causing harm to another man in the parking lot of a water depot last weekend.

Shanton Riley, 29, appeared before Acting Assistant Chief Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans for causing harm to Earl Lockhart on March 12.

Around 4.20pm that day, Riley allegedly intentionally caused harm to Lockhart while both were at the Aquapure parking lot on Bernard Road.

While Riley was initially charged with assault, the prosecutor, Sergeant Barr, successfully requested for the charge to be amended to causing harm instead.

In court Riley pleaded not guilty to the charge. The prosecutor did not object to bail.

Magistrate Vogt-Evans set Riley’s bail at $1,000 with one surety on condition that he sign in at the Wulff Road Police Station on the last Sunday of every month.

The magistrate also warned Riley not to interfere with the complainant or any witnesses in the matter. His case was adjourned to May 23.
