The Queen’s Baton Relay makes its stop in the Bahamas April 2-4 as the countdown to the Commonwealth Games continues.

The Queen’s Baton is the preeminent symbol of the Commonwealth Games, which is scheduled to be held in Birmingham, England, July 28 to August 8, 2022.

The Baton left London on October 7, 2021, and it will travel to all 72 Commonwealth countries and territories before arriving in Birmingham for the start of the Games.

The Bahamas’ Commonwealth Games Association will provide several opportunities for members of the public and country representatives to interact with the baton, which carries a personal message from Queen Elizabeth II. The message will be removed and revealed publicly during the Commonwealth Games.

Meanwhile, events are planned for New Providence, Spanish Wells and Harbour Island between April 2 and 4. On April 5, the baton will be transported to Turks and Caicos Islands to continue its 294- day relay. The Bahamas will be represented at the Commonwealth Games by athletes competing in several disciplines. The full team is expected to be announced in July.
