Man accused of gunpoint robbery

By PAVEL BAILEY

A MAN was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services yesterday for allegedly robbing a woman at gunpoint of her vehicle.

Tameko Lewis, 27, stood before Magistrate Kendra Kelly charged with the robbery.

On April 25 in New Providence Lewis is alleged to have held up Ms Cooper with a black handgun and then stole her 2012 White Honda Fit (L/P # AH4878) valued at $6,000.

Due to the serious nature of the offence the accused was not required to enter a plea in court and was informed that his case would proceed by way of Voluntary Bill of Indictment (VBI).

Lewis was also informed that he had the right to apply to the Supreme Court for bail in this matter.

Until that time, the accused is remanded back to the Bahamas Department of Corrections.

Lewis is expected to return to court on June 24 for service of a VBI.
