Man accused of two armed robberies

By PAVEL BAILEY

A MAN was yesterday remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services for allegedly committing two counts of armed robbery.

Anthony Wright, 35, appeared before Assistant Chief Magistrate Subusola Swain for the alleged armed robberies of Daylan Majors and Brittney Stubbs.

On February 2 in New Providence, Wright is accused of robbing Major of his $5,000 black 2013 Honda Fit while armed with a handgun.

On that same day and also in the capital, the accused is alleged to have robbed Ms Stubbs at gunpoint of her $50 Gucci Handbag, $30 Gucci Purse, a $100 bill and a $350 rose gold iPhone 8.

Due to the serious nature of the offense Wright was not required to enter a plea in court and was informed that his case would proceed by way of Voluntary Bill of Indictment (VBI).

The Magistrate denied the defendant bail at this time but told Wright that he could appeal for it through the Supreme Court.

As such, Wright was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Corrections until his next court appearance on August 30 for service of his VBI.
