$15k bail granted in assault rifle case

By Pavel Bailey

A MAN was granted a combined bail of $15,000 yesterday after being found in possession of a prohibited assault rifle and 33 lbs of drugs.

Orales Jerimere, 29, stood before Assistant Chief Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans to answer for the charges related to drug possession and having a prohibited weapon.

On April 25 in New Providence, Jerimere was arrested after he was found with a banned Del-Ton Inc 5.56mm calibre assault rifle, 14 live rounds of .223 ammunition and 33 lbs of Indian hemp.

With his attorney Ian Cargill present, Jerimere was informed that the prosecution had no objections to his bail.

Magistrate Vogt-Evans granted him bail at $8,000 for the weapons charge and an additional $7,000 for the drug charges, both with two sureties.

Upon being released from custody, the accused is expected to wear an ankle monitor and report into the South Beach Police Station every Monday, Wednesday and Sunday by 7pm. His next court appearance is for June 17 for trial on both matters.
