Man faces drugs charge

By PAVEL BAILEY

A MAN was fined in a Magistrate’s Court yesterday on a drug charge.

D’Angelo Ferguson, 39, appeared before Senior Magistrate Samuel McKinney charged with possession of dangerous drugs with intent to supply.

On May 4 Ferguson was arrested for allegedly being found with five grams of Indian Hemp in clear plastic baggies strapped to his waist.

In court he pleaded guilty to the charges, explaining that he used to have a serious history with drugs but that he is trying to change.

Ferguson told the magistrate how he only took the marijuana to cope with the recent passing of his mother and that he hasn’t been able to contact any of his associates since his arrest.

Magistrate McKinney then ordered Ferguson to pay a $700 fine or spend three months in prison. However, the magistrate agreed to let Ferguson use the court’s landline to find someone to assist with bail and pay half of his fine before he can be released.
