Strike-Out Cancer initiative launched

THE Strike-Out Cancer initiative is a joint programme with the National Fast-Pitch Coaches Association (NFCA) membership and The Rising Stars programme to raise funds and awareness to fight cancer and promote a healthy lifestyle.

Players will take to the softball diamond at Emera Baseball Park with games scheduled for 7pm Friday and 1:30pm Saturday, May 13-14.

“The game on Friday is special and dear to most of us in Rising Stars as we will be playing for our dear friend Lynette Cox who has been recently diagnosed with cancer, therefore, this game will be played in her honour and proceeds from the Friday game will be donated to Lynette,” said Yvonne Lockhart, the organiser.

“Therefore, we invite the corporate community to join us in this campaign to spread awareness and raise money in the fight against cancer. You can outright donate or match five dollars for every strikeout recorded on those days.”

Part proceeds will be donated to the Cancer Society of Freeport.
