Women charged over knife fight

By PAVEL BAILEY

TWO WOMEN were arraigned in a Magistrate’s Court yesterday on separate charges in connection with the same argument involving a knife in Golden Palm Estates.

Ashanti Martin, 20, of Lily Way Golden Palm Estates and Aaliyah Taylor, 20, both appeared before Magistrate Shaka Serville on charges of assault with a dangerous instrument in addition to causing harm and threats of death.

On April 12 at Martin’s residence after Taylor allegedly threatened to kill her, Martin is accused of attacking Taylor with a knife and causing her harm.

In court, both women pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.

As there were no objections to bail by the prosecution in either of their cases, bail was granted to the accused at $1,500 each.

Both Martin and Taylor’s trials are adjourned to August 15.
