Woman accused of stealing $15,000

By PAVEL BAILEY

A WOMAN was granted bail in a Magistrate’s Court yesterday after facing an allegation of stealing $15,000 from another woman.

Sonovia Cartwright, represented by Wendawn Miller-Frazer, appeared before Magistrate Kendra Kelly on a stealing charge.

Sometime between mid-November 2021 and early January 2022 Cartwright is accused of stealing $14,360, the property of Courtney David-Thompson.

In court, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Additionally, when asked where she wanted to have her matter heard, she elected to continue in a Magistrate’s Court.

With there being no objections to bail as Cartwright had no antecedents and had already secured $10,000 for police bail, it was granted to her at the sum of $9,900 with one or two sureties.

Under the conditions of the defendant’s bail she is expected to sign in at East Street South Police Station every Wednesday before 6pm.

Cartwright is expected to return to court for trial on July 15.
