Two accused over unlicenced firearm

By PAVEL BAILEY

A MAN and a woman were charged in a Magistrate’s Court yesterday with possession of an unlicenced firearm and ammunition.

Dino Smith, 28, and Annette Johnson, 24, stood before Senior Magistrate Samuel McKinney charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

On May 20 in New Providence, the accused were arrested after being found with a black Austria Glock .40 pistol with the serial number erased and without a licence.

They were also found with 13 live rounds of .40 ammo.

In court, Smith and Johnson pleaded not guilty to the two charges against them.

While Smith had a pending matter in court in connection with an armed robbery there was no objection to bail. The two accused were each granted $7,500 bail with one or two sureties on condition that Smith be fitted with an ankle monitor.

The trial date for both accused is set for August 23.
