Four in court over dangerous drug possession charges

By PAVEL BAILEY

FOUR MEN were charged in a Magistrate’s Court yesterday on separate drug offences.

Daniel Johnson, 28, Renaldo Hepburn, 38, and Elmore Sherman, 52, stood before Senior Magistrate Samuel McKinney on a charge of possession of dangerous drugs.

On May 22 in New Providence the accused were arrested when officers stopped them for acting suspiciously and found 1 oz of Indian Hemp in their possession. The suspected drugs were reportedly hidden in an Arizona can in 12 separate foil wrappings.

In court all three accused pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.

They were each granted $1,500 bail with one or two sureties. August 2 is their next court date.

Another man, Cranston Rolle, 52, appeared before Magistrate McKinney on separate charges of possession of dangerous drugs with intent to supply and money laundering.

On May 22 in New Providence Rolle was arrested after he was found in possession of 5 3/8 ozs of Indian Hemp. Police also confiscated $264 that Rolle had at the time of his arrest, suspecting it to be the proceeds of crime.

In court the accused pleaded not guilty to both charges against him.

With there being no objections to bail it was granted in the sum of $1,500 with one or two sureties.

The accused’s trial is expected to start on August 4.
