A MAN was accused yesterday of having sexual relations with a 15-year-old boy.

Jonathon Brown, 37, faced Senior Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans on a charge of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor of the same sex. It is alleged that the accused slept with the boy on October 28.

Due to the gravity of the offence Brown was not required to enter a plea in court. He was informed his matter would proceed to the Supreme Court by a voluntary bill of indictment (VBI).

As the magistrate lacked the jurisdiction to grant him bail, Brown was told he had the right to apply for it through the higher court.

Prosecutor ASP Lewis asked the magistrate that the accused be placed in a secure cell while on remand for his own safety.

Brown is expected to return to court for service of his VBI on March 9, 2023.
