Man shot in face in Eight Mile Rock

A MAN is in hospital in serious condition after he was shot in the face on Saturday in the Eight Mile Rock area, police reported.

Police received a report shortly after 1am on Saturday that a man was taken to hospital with gunshot injuries. Officers went to the Rand Memorial Hospital to investigate.

Initial investigations revealed that the victim was at a business in Seagrape when he was approached by a man known to him. The man produced a firearm and shot him in the face, police said.

The victim was taken by private vehicle to the hospital, where he is listed in serious, but stable condition.

Police have arrested a man who is in custody assisting them with their investigation.

Meanwhile, police in North Andros are investigating a stabbing that left a 39-year-old man in hospital.

The incident reportedly occurred shortly before 10pm on Sunday at a business in Nicholl’s Town.

It is reported that the victim was involved in an argument with a 30-year-old male when he was stabbed in his upper body.

The victim was taken to New Providence where he is detained in hospital, in serious condition.

The 30-year-old is in police custody and assisting with the investigation.

In other crime news, a Grand Bahama teen was arrested on Friday after allegedly being found with suspected marijuana.

Police said that shortly before 11pm officers from the Northeastern Division were conducting a routine mobile patrol in the Sergeant Major Road area when they saw a male acting suspiciously.

The suspect fled on foot after seeing the officers, police said, leading officers to chase and subsequently catch him. During a search of the suspect, officers found a quantity of suspected marijuana, police said.

As a result, the 19-year-old male was arrested and taken into police custody.
