TWO men were fined in Magistrate’s Court yesterday on separate drug charges.

Charles Eneas, 49, faced Magistrate Samuel McKinney on a charge of possession of dangerous drugs with intent to supply.

On September 10, Eneas was caught by police speeding on Bethel Avenue in a silver coloured Nissan Skyline. A subsequent search of the vehicle for suspected dangerous drugs or firearms uncovered a clear brown taped package in a navy-blue grocery bag in the backseat. Further analysis revealed the package contained 5lbs and 5oz of Indian hemp with a street value of $5,000.

The accused admitted owning the drugs in an official police interview.

Eneas pleaded guilty to the charge in court, where prosecutor Inspector Timothy Bain also revealed that the accused had prior charges. The magistrate ordered him to pay a fine of $4,000 or risk six months in custody.

The second man, Maverick Major, 27, also faced Magistrate McKinney on a charge of possession of dangerous drugs.

On September 6 in New Providence, Major was found by authorities with 1/2 lb of Indian Hemp valued at $500.

In court Major pleaded guilty to the charge. It was also revealed that he had prior convictions.

Major was ordered to pay a $400 fine or face two months in prison.
