Body language and a republic

EDITOR, The Tribune.

If body language speaks, we clearly saw the body language of Prime Minister Davis being received by His Majesty Charles III as Prime Minister of one of His Realm States very clearly Republic is not on this Prime Minister’s agenda.

Prime Minister prudent if solely because your buddies want UK Honours that will be enough for me as those are the more preferred to The Bahamas Honours.

Let’s quickly get it right Queen’s Counsel are now King’s Counsel - for the moment Prime Minister Davis has not been elevated to a Member of the Privy Council so he is just Hon. not Rt Hon - Ministry PR persons please note.

The playing of the UK National anthem is not appropriate unless the sovereign is actually in presence in The Bahamas - please note Talk Show host. When any National anthem is played, please show the required protocol, stand and remove your hat. Flags flying at half-mast.

Small things, but think the position of Governor General is safe - the present holder come June 28th 2023 his term will expire and a new Governor General will be appointed. Could the public have a say in this? Nominations like for National Awards sent into OPM – think that would be a good idea as it eliminates the political nomination aspect.

The Rt. Hon. Arthur Hanna, DPM, <minister of Finance, stayed true to his socialist beliefs, nurtured during those years spent at The London School of Economics. The LSE was created by The Fabian Society, who also shaped British Socialism. I suspect that Sir Lynden Pindling and his wife were, in contrast, most eager to receive a high honors from the British monarch. Time will tell but I will expect that Phil Davis will also nominate himself for a knighthood when the country next qualifies to receive one. Perhaps it will be the price of his retirement as leader of the PLP.
