Possession of a gram of marijuana leads to $1,300 fine for man

A MAN was fined $1,300 after admitting to having a gram of marijuana last weekend. 

Magistrate Samuel McKinney charged Mauricio Hepburn, 31, with possession of dangerous drugs. 

Hepburn was arrested after police found him with one gram of marijuana in New Providence on November 25. 

After Hepburn pleaded guilty, he was ordered to pay a fine of $1,300 or risk three months in prison.  

Another man was fined $400 after he admitted to a separate drug charge. 

Magistrate McKinney charged Lance Rose, 38, with possession of dangerous drugs.

Rose was arrested after police found him with eight grams of marijuana on November 26.

Following his guilty plea, Rose was ordered to pay a fine of $400 or risk one month in prison.
