A WOMAN was granted bail in court yesterday after being accused of stealing $2,492.60 from another woman.

Lacoya Mitchell, 32, stood before Magistrate Shaka Serville on charges of stealing and money laundering.

Between January 13-15, Mitchell is accused of stealing and knowingly acquiring $2,492.60 from Marjorie Lightbourne, which represented the proceeds of crime.

After electing to continue her matter in the Magistrate’s Court, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Mitchell told the magistrate that she does not know the complainant after hearing the facts of her case.

As the prosecution did not object to bail it was granted to the accused at $2,000 with one or two sureties.

The trial in this matter is set for March 20.
