A MAN was granted $9,000 bail after allegedly being found with $40,000 worth of cocaine in his Stapledon Gardens home earlier this week.

Magistrate Samuel McKinney charged Calvin Jean-Baptiste, 31, with possession of dangerous drugs with intent to supply.

Baptiste allegedly had more than five pounds of cocaine, which police found in two grey packages in his bedroom closet on October 9. The drugs seized in this raid have an estimated street value of $40,000.

After pleading not guilty, the accused was informed that as a condition of his release, he must sign in at the Grove Police Station every Wednesday and Saturday by 6pm. Baptiste also will be fitted with an electronic monitoring device.

His trial begins on November 1.
