A MAN awaiting trial for a 2023 murder was remanded to prison yesterday after he was accused of breaching his bail conditions for 117 days.
Prosecutors allege Yvon Carter, 25, failed to sign in at his local police station for 117 days between April 6 and August 1.
Carter was on bail on charges of murder, attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
Prosecutors allege Carter and his accomplices were responsible for the shooting death of 18-year-old Harrinique McPhee and the attempted murder of Owen Anderson near a bar on Coleman Lane on February 4, 2023.
The accused allegedly jumped out of bushes and opened fire on the victims’ vehicle.
Carter pleaded not guilty to violating his bail conditions before Magistrate Abigail Farrington.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Kendrick Bauld, the prosecutor, objected to bail, citing the serious nature of the offences and the extent of the alleged breaches.
Carter was denied bail and remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.
His trial is scheduled to begin on October 23.
