A MAN accused of a fatal shooting near Market Street earlier this month was remanded to prison yesterday.
Prosecutors allege that Tarazz Johnson, 25, and an accomplice shot and killed Dwight Benjamin, 35, outside a residence on Father Calnan Road at about 9.30pm on July 15.
The suspects reportedly ambushed Benjamin as he left the house. After the shooting, they fled south on Market Street towards Andros Avenue on a black scooter.
Authorities found Benjamin lying on his back with apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Johnson was not required to enter a plea to the murder charge before Senior Magistrate Algernon Allen Jr.
He was informed that the case would proceed to the Supreme Court through a voluntary bill of indictment.
Johnson was also informed of his right to apply to the Supreme Court for bail.
The voluntary bill of indictment is scheduled to be served on December 4.
Sergeant 3004 Forbes prosecuted the case.
