A REPEAT offender was sentenced to 18 months in prison yesterday for damaging a police statue on Bay Street and breaking into a Charlotte Street business last month.
Rodnel Polydor, 40, broke into Churned Up! Ice Cream Parlour & Smoke House and stole $600 on June 14.
The following day, Polydor intentionally damaged a police statue at Bay and Elizabeth Streets.
The statue, valued at $15,500, belonged to Anthony Boswick.
Polydor pleaded guilty to shopbreaking, stealing and causing damage before Senior Magistrate Raquel Whyms.
Inspector 2257 Wilkinson, the prosecutor, said Polydor had multiple previous convictions for similar offences.
In January, Polydor was fined $150 for wilfully exposing himself to a woman on Shopper’s Mall Drive near the bridge authority on January 10.
The woman, who was offended by his behaviour, reported that Polydor held his genitals and asked whether she had ever seen bubblegum.
For his latest offences, Polydor was sentenced to 18 months at the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.
