A MAN accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in Pinewood Gardens last week was remanded to prison yesterday.

Prosecutors allege Lorvensky Jean, 23, had unlawful sexual intercourse with the underage girl on the night of June 23.

The complainant reportedly knew the accused and was taken by him to the Pinewood area, where he allegedly forced himself on her.

Jean was not required to enter a plea to the charge of unlawful sexual intercourse before acting Chief Magistrate Ancella Evans.

The defendant was told his matter would proceed to the Supreme Court through a voluntary bill of indictment.

Jean was informed of his right to apply for bail in the higher court.

He was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until service of his VBI on October 8.

Inspector Deon Barr prosecuted the case, while Moses Bain represented the accused.
