A MAN was yesterday accused of robbing another man of $4,400 at gunpoint during what police say was a staged car sale on Johnson Road earlier this month.

Prosecutors allege Garshano Miller, 28, and others robbed Bradley Johnson of the cash he intended to use to buy a vehicle on September 11.

Miller was not required to enter a plea to charges of armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and abetment to armed robbery when he appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Ancella Evans.

He was told his case would be sent to the Supreme Court by a voluntary bill of indictment and that he may apply for bail in that court. He was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until the bill is served on December 3.

According to police, shortly after 5pm, the complainant had arranged to buy a vehicle he had seen online. A man he knew picked him up from his home and took him to Step Street. There, the complainant signed a bill of sale, but the deal could not be completed because the vehicle's registered owner was not present to sign.

He was taken home, then later picked up again by an unknown man driving the vehicle he planned to buy. That man took him to Johnson Road, near a house where the sale was supposed to be completed.

While they were there, a dark-coloured Japanese-model vehicle pulled up and several men got out. Two of them were allegedly armed. The men, along with the driver of the vehicle for sale, allegedly attacked the complainant and robbed him of the cash he was carrying.

He was then driven away in the vehicle and later released on Prince Charles Drive.

Ian Jupp represented Miller. Inspector Deon Barr prosecuted.
